Combine the quirks of card-based games like Magic: The Gathering (or, Hearthstone for you Millennials) with the strategy elements of Risk… and a dash of good old-fashioned D&D LARP’ing (live action role-playing for the uninitiated) and you get… Disney Villainous: an asymmetric turn-based strategy and roleplaying game.
Recently, Ravensburger Games released the most recent expansion to this game called Disney Villainous: Perfectly Wretched which introduced three new villains into the mix: Cruella De Vil (101 Dalmations), Mother Gothel (Tangled) and Pete (yes… Peg-leg Pete!).  Whether you pick up this latest expansion, or any of the other existing sets (see below)… all are independently playable!  Mix and match the games to create your own evil battle royale!
Because the game has an asymmetric style of play, each Disney villain has their own objectives and goals.  Accomplish your villain’s goal and win the game!  But, beware of your fellow villains as they try to delay and sabotage your progress while they try to hatch their own evil plan.  Each villain has a unique setup that includes their related rogues gallery as well as the heroes, princesses and sidekicks there to stop them in their tracks.  For the collectors out there - these card sets contain beautiful illustrations that are often in the unique style of of their corresponding animated movies.
Each of the characters provide interesting and different game experiences.  Depending on your mood or level of experience with the game, you can challenge yourself with new and different characters… or master your favorite and rule supreme!  Speaking of characters - here are the game sets and characters available so far:
Disney Villainous: The Worst Takes it All (Core Set)
 - Captain Hook (Peter Pan)
 - Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty)
 - Jafar (Aladdin)
 - Ursula (The Little Mermaid)
 - Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland)
 - Prince John (Robin Hood)

Disney Villainous: Wicked to the Core
 - Hades (Hercules)
 - Dr. Facilier (The Princess & the Frog)
 - The Evil Queen (Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs)

Disney Villainous: Evil Comes Prepared
 - Scar (The Lion King)
 - Ratigan (The Great Mouse Detective)
 - Yzma (The Emperor’s New Groove)

Each game lasts around 60 minutes and is so well balanced that it remains competitive and fun with only two players or a whole army of evil-doers!  Look out for future expansions including an already announced version that introduces the Marvel Super Villains, including Thanos, into the game!
Our one word of caution though… is that because the game is relatively complex ( to start ), we wouldn’t recommend this for younger players under 10.

Looking for a fun and inexpensive way to inject some Disney magic into game night?  Check out Disney Villainous - we highly recommend it!
